1. Lord, you have taught us that all our doings without love are worth nothing. Send your Holy Spirit, and pour into our hearts that most excellent of love, the bond of all peace and virtues, without which those who live are counted as dead before you. And this we ask for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Thomas Cranmer (1489-1556)

2. Pilgrim God, grant us courage to walk with you this day,
to walk alongside those who see things very differently from us,
not to shun those who are trapped in minds or bodies that don't seem
  to fit,
to be open to the silent cry of those who have travelled long with inner
so that together we may discover a greater companionship with you.
Accompanying God, grant us faith to walk with you this day,
to see the other with your eyes
to listen to the other with your ears and
to hold the other in your embrace
so that together we may be all that you intend us to be.
God of beginnings and endings, grant us hope to travel with you this day,
to face hard choices and decisions,
to let go of all that distorts or prevents your purposes for humankind,
to embrace the call of your kingdom,
so that in the fullness of your time we may enter into your eternal rest
and with all your creation be lost in wonder, love and praise. Amen.

Peter Barber
