It was a busy Holy Week at St Peter & St Paul's Church. Palm Sunday was celebrated with our usual service beginning with procession of Palms around the Market Place. Everyone joined in with the Passion Gospel shouting both Hosanna and Crucify him. On Monday we held a service of the Stations of the Cross using our beautiful new Stations, giving a real sense of journeying with Jesus to the cross and the grave. On Tuesday the choir treated us to the peace and beauty of Compline. Wednesday lunchtime found 23 people sharing in the fellowship of a Biblical meal, as we reflected on the last supper and traditions of Jesus' day. Maundy Thursday is the day we remember the last supper, and Jesus' arrest. Our service of communion included the washing of feet and the stripping of the altar and was followed by the watch until 12 midnight. It was a busy Good Friday, with the children making Easter Gardens and reflecting on the cross, in the afternoon we reflected on the words of Love of Jesus on the cross and finished the day with Tenebrae.
Easter Day dawned slightly foggy and drizzily for those who gathered at 6.30am for the Sunrise Service. Easter Celebrations continued with an 8am Book of Common Prayer Communion and our celebration Eucharist at 10.45am which was followed by an Easter Egg Hunt in the Church Hall.
Alleluia! Christ is Risen!
