After a gap (vacancy) of 622 days, Uppingham Church welcomed its new Rector the Revd Canon Allison Twigg .
At a service conducted by Assistant Bishop, the Right Revd Andrew Proud and the Archdeacon of Oakham, the Venerable Alison Booker, Allison was welcomed to her new post by a congregation of 200, which included clergy from across the diocese. Rutland’s Lord Lieutenant, Dr Sarah Furness, the County’s High Sheriff Susannah Fish and Uppingham’s Mayor Cllr Lindsay Cooper were also there to welcome Allison.
The service saw Allison appointed as the Rector of the Benefice of Uppingham with Ayston & Belton with Wardley, Rutland.
Allison thanked the congregation for their warm welcome she and her family had received from the community.
Richard Cole, Churchwarden of Uppingham said, “It is such a joy to welcome Allison to her new role. We look forward to working alongside her as she leads the Church community on a new chapter of its story.”
